Coronavirus (COVID-19) Resources for Kaiser Permanente Network Providers
This page provides sample clinical resources to assist you with testing and treating your patients for Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), including information for Kaiser Permanente members who may need to be informed of their care options. We have also included sample staff resources to assist you with caring for your staff during this time.
We are communicating regularly with our members via email and letter to describe the virus, detail measures they can take to avoid exposure, and explain their care options. We have posted a dedicated web page on our Kaiser Permanente member site that addresses these concerns as well.
Virtual Care Options
Kaiser Permanente members may seek virtual care options within the Kaiser Permanente system. For Care Chat and e-visits, they can register for online services at Kaiser Permanente. Additionally, they may call our 24-hour consulting nurse at 1-800-297-6877.
If you provide virtual care, Kaiser Permanente covers telehealth, telemedicine and virtual medicine delivered by contracted providers that meet our published payment policies. Please refer to our Telehealth Services (Medicare), Telemedicine Services (Commercial), and Virtual Care payment policies for details.
Provider Clinical and Administrative Resources
We are following WHO protocols for patient care. On the right side of this page, we have posted several sample resources that you may find useful. We have also posted sample resources for staff care that you may find helpful, including resource planning guides for staff shortages and, if necessary, isolation and treatment.
Testing and Treatment Coverage
We will not charge member cost-sharing (copayments, deductibles, and coinsurance) for all medically necessary screening and testing for COVID-19. This policy applies to the cost of the visit, associated lab tests, and radiology services at plan hospital, emergency department, urgent care, and provider offices where the purpose of the visit is to be screened and/or tested for COVID-19. In the event the Kaiser Permanente member is diagnosed with COVID-19, please refer to the Coverage & Benefit Resources section located in the right hand column of this page.
Please consider the impact of any new procedures or processes you may implement during this time on patients with disabilities. Those with visual, hearing, or mobility limitations may need additional assistance.
